The Northeast Area

Northeast Colorado Springs is the region of most active growth in the city. An area of about 20 square miles, including both city territory and area immediately adjacent to city boundaries, the Northeast Area is undergoing rapid development of mid-range to high priced tract and custom homes, adding to long established neighborhoods and creating whole new sections of town.

The Northeast is characterized by rolling hills and jagged bluffs, and offers some of the most spectacular views of the front range and the downtown area of the city. Homes are mostly contemporary with western decorating influences predominating. Condominiums and townhomes are plentiful, with many new developments underway. There is quite a bit of open land still available for custom home construction in more outlying areas of Northeast Colorado Springs.

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is located in the Northeast. And there are several major parks in the area, including Palmer Park, a magnificent 700-acre natural reserve of cliffs, woods and open meadows complete with hiking trails, athletic fields, and playground.

Shopping is abundant in the Northeast, with major malls and numerous commercial centers established or under construction. And the area is coming to rival downtown as a business district, with new office parks putting many additional employment opportunities virtually at the doorstep of many Northeast residents.
